It’s a fact. Foodie breaks are nothing short of being huge this year! So much so that when it comes to picking one’s holiday destination, Brits consider food as an overriding factor above outdoor activities, cultural experiences, or locations previously endorsed by friends, recent research from Expedia has revealed.

Gone are the days when, to have an indulgent, sense-heightening culinary experience, you would have to jet overseas to exotic shores. Today, Britain offers an ideal location for staycationers to tuck in to a superb foodie break, an opportunity to amalgamate both splendid scenery and superb dining experiences.

The study carried out by Expedia discovered that a significant number (a third) of people going on holiday said they return to the same holiday destination simply because of the food.

Furthermore, the research confirmed that nearly half of Brits opt to make accommodation bookings based around how good the food is.

If you didn’t already know, Britain gives visitors from abroad as well as staycationers an abundance of foodie pleasures, catering for all tastes, from lovers of meat and local seafood, to those with a sweeter tooth who enjoy fine desserts.

Foodie breaks aren’t restricted to just great culinary experiences, you can enjoy some of the other appealing elements of a UK staycation at the same time, such as visits to shows at the theatre, cycling, golf, and spa getaways that are simply amazing for all concerned!
